Larry Nelson is a retired professional golfer from the United States. He was born on September 10, 1947, in Fort Payne, Alabama. Nelson turned professional in 1971 and had a successful career on the PGA Tour, winning a total of ten PGA Tour events.
Nelson is perhaps best known for his three major championship victories. He won the PGA Championship in 1981 and 1987, and the U.S. Open in 1983. He also had success on the Champions Tour, where he won several tournaments and was named the Player of the Year in 2000.
In addition to his success on the golf course, Nelson is also known for his work as a golf course designer. He has designed several golf courses in the United States, including the Stone Mountain Golf Club in Georgia.
Larry Nelson is considered one of the greatest golfers of his generation and is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
